Travelling with a little one is one of those beautiful milestones. Their first hotel stay, their first flight, their first stamp on the passport. But before all that magic begins, there’s one big step every parent has to tick off: the baby’s passport.
And in India, getting a baby passport feels like a mini-adventure on its own. Forms, documents, queues, counters, photos, and of course, juggling it all with the baby on your hip. But don’t worry, parents. I’ve got you.
This is a simple, parent guide to help you glide through the process and avoid the most common mistakes that nobody warns you about.
✏️ Step 1: Filling the Application Form
The application is ONLINE and super straightforward (once you know where to click!)
Just head over to:
The detailed step-by-step is shown in the video we made for fellow parents linked below, so it becomes your ready guide for filling the form correctly.
Take your time, cross-check every detail, and save yourself a second trip to PSK!
📄 Step 2: Documents You MUST Carry to Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)
Carry originals + 2 photocopies of each. Don’t skip the photocopies as they save a LOT of time at the counter.
✔️ Baby Documents
Original Birth Certificate (with correct name)
Baby Aadhaar Card (good to have, not mandatory)
Baby photograph (as per specifications)
✔️ Parents Documents
Parents’ Passports
Parents’ Aadhaar Cards
Parents’ PAN Cards (not always needed, but helpful to carry)
✔️ Additional Paperwork
Annexure D (Printed on A4 paper, filled and signed)
Application Form (printed)
That’s it, simple. But the key is checking everything thrice so you don’t miss even one small detail.
⚠️ Common Mistakes Parents Make (Please Avoid These!)
These tiny errors are the #1 reason families get sent back from the counter. Let’s save you the heartbreak:
❌ Baby’s or parent's name differs in documents (e.g., middle name in Aadhaar but not in birth certificate)
❌ Baby name NOT updated on birth certificate This is a BIG one. No name = No passport.
❌ Place of birth entered incorrectly on form This needs to be the same as on birth certificate.
❌ Annexure D not selected while filling the form And then the printout is missing on appointment day.
❌ Baby photo not as per specifications Baby photos have strict rules — size, background, posture.
❌ Carrying only short paper Aadhaar cards Passport office does NOT accept the small slip Aadhaar. They only accept:
✔️ PVC Aadhaar
✔️ Full-size laminated Aadhaar
Please, please check this one. Many parents get rejected here. We ourself saw at least 5-6 parents struggle in PSK due to this.
🚀 Our Experience With Tatkal Passport
We applied for a Tatkal Passport for Rudransh and honestly… it was a breeze.
Total time inside PSK? Just 25 minutes
Number of counters cleared? All of them smoothly
Passport delivered? On the third working day
If you’re in a hurry or have upcoming travel, Tatkal is a great option.

🌍 And Remember!
Don’t let the paperwork scare you. Yes, you’ll juggle baby + documents + forms + appointments. Yes, it takes a little preparation.
But once it’s done, it’s like opening a tiny little door that whispers: “We’re ready, little traveller on board.” ✈️✨
