Breastfeeding looks simple from a distance but when you actually start, it feels like entering a whole new world. Everything is new. Your body is new. Your baby is new. Your emotions are new. And you are expected to feed a newborn like a pro on day one. No pressure at all, right? 😅

Let me tell you one thing, mama. Be patient. Be positive. Trust yourself. You can do it. 💪✨

In most hospitals, staff often suggest formula. Not because breastfeeding is bad but because formula is faster and easier for them to give. Breastfeeding takes time, guidance, and a whole lot of patience. It is a skill and all skills need practice. But to avoid the hassle, staff may politely nudge you toward formula feeds. This is where your clarity matters.

If you want to breastfeed, say it clearly. Politely, firmly, calmly. 🤍

Tell them you want to feed your baby and ask them to show you the correct method. Nurses are wonderful once they know what you want. Stay calm, keep trying, and don’t panic. Your body knows what to do. Your baby knows what to do. You both just need time to sync. 🍼💛

A few things helped me so much during those first days. They made my breastfeeding journey smoother, less stressful, and a lot more comforting.

1. Feeding Pillow 🤗

Use it from day one. Posture is everything. Without support, we bend too much and end up with back and neck pain. A feeding pillow keeps your baby at the right height and makes the entire experience smoother and more comfortable. Total lifesaver.

2. Breast Pump 🍼

If latching takes time at the start, your pump will save you. It helps you express milk, boosts confidence, and gives your baby that first drop even if tiny. It helped me emotionally so much. Pack it in your hospital bag.

3. Feeding Apron 🌸

A must have for every new mom. It gives you privacy in the hospital where nurses, doctors, and visitors keep walking in. When you feel comfortable, you feed better. Simple as that.

4. Nipcare Cream 💧

A tiny pea sized amount gives huge relief. Those early days can be painful and this cream soothes, heals, and prepares you for the next feed. Don’t skip this one.

These four essentials were true lifesavers during my journey. Pack them all in your hospital bag. Keep them handy from day one. And remember, mama…

Trust yourself. You can do it. 💛✨

Your breastfeeding journey is beautiful, unique, and you are stronger than you think.

Love,

Rashi 🤍
